Description of the itemThis is a lovely original drop-dial clock of high quality. It is of particular interest since it has Queen Victoria's 'cyhper' on the dial between the letter V R. The hands are very detailed and elegant.It is now fully restored and we have a photographic record to prove its heritage.
Its long pendulum gives it a slow relaxing 'beat'
Information about the makerHorley, Alfred of London S.W. Loomes lists him as 1869-78. The name appears in the 1878 PO Directory of Surrey trade directory at 28 Clapham Road, London S.W. (also at 383A Brixton Road).

It has a restored 12" painted flat dial with very elegant blued steel hands.
Spun brass bezel which appears to be original (with old glass). Locking bottom door.
The movement is a chain driven 8-day fusee.
Condition ReportNow fully restored with a photograph record to prove its heritage. The spun bezel is unusual in not having a sight-ring, but it retains a very old piece of 'uneven' glass, very much adding to its appeal. Movement overhauled, cleaned and serviced.
